Dealing with Cheaters: Competitive Bans

Hey Era. As you've probably taken note of by now as a player who's participated in any aspect of the game's competitive scene, whether that be any of Plasma's game modes, Spar Complex, or even staff and bot-hosted events, one aspect of them is painfully clear: There are often cheaters present in these game modes, which ruins the experience for everybody else.

That is why going forwards, we're introducing a new feature for cheaters who are caught by staff or any automated detection we set in place, whether that be through individual jails or large ban waves: Competitive bans.

Competitive bans will go into effect for all new hacking or cheating-related warns earned by players after the publishing of this post. Read on below to learn how they'll work.

Competitive Bans: How do they work?

Competitive Ban Duration and Strikes

Competitive Bans are intended to keep competitive environments fair, enjoyable, and worth participating in. If a player is found cheating in any competitive setting, they may receive a competitive ban alongside their normal punishment. The player will lose access to competitive features for the duration of their competitive ban.

While a competitive ban is active, affected players will be unable to queue for or participate in supported competitive experiences, including Spar, Plasma, and other applicable staff or bot-hosted competitive events.

When a player receives either a temporary or permanent competitive ban, a corresponding icon will appear on their profile, as shown in the images below.

Temporary Competitive Ban

Permanent Competitive Ban

This system is being introduced to better protect the integrity of competitive play. Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep these spaces fair for everyone.

Important Notes

  • Competitive Bans only apply to new warnings issued after this post is published.
  • Normal punishments, including warns, jails, or other enforcement actions, may still be applied separately.
  • Certain cases may result in immediate ban duration escalation depending on staff review or automated detection results.
