Furniture Catalog and Storage Update
A major update to furniture has just arrived to Era!

Hey Era! We've got lots to share regarding furniture for all of you who enjoy decorating your houses or have been looking forward to a furniture limit increase for years. A lot of changes have just gone live for our furniture system, so this post will be split into a couple sections breaking those changes down.

We've reworked our furniture system in its entirety, and the way you manage and get to use that furniture from within the furniture GUI has also changed completely. Let's get into it.

Why Change Things?

Our previous furniture system was built around a hard engine limit of only around 500 owned furniture per player well over a decade ago. Over time, as more furniture was released and obtained by players, managing your furniture around that limit became increasingly annoying. Our new system changes how we store each player's furniture in the background, bypassing that engine limit entirely.

Finding furniture also required going from shop to shop across the map. This meant that a lot of furniture ended up lost or forgotten due to players not knowing where to find it for sale or whether it was still obtainable at all.

This rework addresses all of that by:

  • Making all of the game's furniture accessible from a single place
  • Majorly increasing (Or outright removing) the furniture limit
  • Making furniture management easier overall
  • Making older furniture easy to find again or bringing it back for sale (This includes keeping holiday names in furniture names consistent for easier searches!)
  • Setting up a solid foundation for future furniture and housing updates

So What's New?

New Furniture Catalog

Folder icons will come at a later date as we continue to better organize furniture based off feedback.

All of Era's furniture is now purchasable directly from the furniture button within your house in the form of an all-new catalog which categorizes furniture by folders and sub-folders just like your item inventory.

This means all past furniture from a prior release over the game's lifespan has been brought back for sale and can be found either by browsing folders or directly searching it up. We've kept this strictly reserved for furniture that could be bought for Gralats, Plasma Coins, or Laser Tag Coins. That means past furniture that sold for special holiday currencies like Butterfly Coins or Valentine's Hearts weren't included, but are not off the table forever.

Exactly 3250 furniture is currently available for purchase within the new catalog. Plenty of it was never released previously, so there's a lot of new furniture from Era's past that players will get to see and use for the first time!

Upgraded Storage Limits

For non-VIP players, the furniture limit has been increased from 500 -> 2000. This number is subject to further increase later, but the majority of players likely won't need to go over it anytime soon.

For VIP subscribers, furniture storage is now completely unlimited. VIP subscribers are now able to hold onto 10000, 50000, or infinitely more furniture at a time without issue!

Bulk Purchasing and Purchase Confirmation

All furniture can now be purchased directly from the catalog itself and supports bulk purchasing for up to 10 of any given furniture at a time. Each purchase will now also ask you to confirm before it goes through to avoid any accidental purchases.

Furniture Tokens and Refunds

When viewing any owned furniture in your furniture inventory, you'll have the option to sell it like before, but it will no longer sell for only 1 G$ a piece. Instead, all furniture can now be sold for 50% of its original purchase price.

Rather than receive Gralats back for a sale however, you'll now receive a new Furniture Tokens currency, which can be used to purchase furniture from the catalog.

Simply put:

  • Furniture bought with special currency will refund 50% of that same currency. For example, a furniture that costs 20 Plasma Coins will sell back for 10 Plasma Coins.
  • Furniture bought with G$ will return Furniture Tokens worth 50% of the original price instead.
  • Furniture Tokens are automatically prioritized when purchasing new furniture, the same way Upload Tokens work! There is no limit to how many Furniture Tokens players can hold onto.

Closing Notes

Right now, a lot of the furniture within folders may still be poorly organized or in the wrong section. We'll improve this over time as we make extra organization passes in future updates. If you have suggestions on how furniture should be categorized or what folders would be good to add or remove, as well as any bug reports or issues with specific furniture to bring up, please let staff know! An in-game PR Support ticket goes a long way in reaching developers.

All in all, this update sets the foundation for future housing or furniture updates we'd love to share with you once the time is right. We hope you enjoy the reworked furniture system and get your use out of it as you decorate your player homes.

That's all for now. Thanks for your continued patience and support toward our little game!
